Studio Space

I have been drooling over studio spaces on Pinterest for a while now. One of these days I will get closer to having one in the back yard and not just in my head. I am finding a few things that I really like about studio spaces.

Natural light. I can tell I need plenty of windows but they need protected from the hail we get around here so maybe that will entail having cute wood shutters that are functional.

White. I find that I am attracted to the ones with white walls. Probably lighting again.

Other design elements to get factored in: Power will be needed. Maybe solar power? Wind is a factor around here so I will have to position the building with the wind in mind. I have a ranch style house but I haven’t decided to make it match or make it contrast the house. I am seriously considering a shipping container. They are pretty big and very sturdy. I also kind of like the modern shape to them.

I wouldn’t mind doing a yurt but I don’t think in our extreme weather (mostly the wind) they would last for long enough to warrant the cost.

I would like to add sinks, tables, and drying racks as some basics. I might decide I want a greenhouse attached as well. I figure the studio will go in the back garden so that would be a nice feature to have.

I’d better quit procrastinating my spinning…

About littlehawkyarns

I'm a gardener that is trying to provide good food for my family to enjoy. I have two children, two dogs, a husband, four chickens, and four cats. In addition gardening I enjoy handwork such as knitting, crochet, and sewing. I'm in the process of trying to learn tatting and embroidery as well. I am soon adding more critters to the collection since we just got property and I spin yarn.
